Microsoft Azure is Microsoft’s cloud platform — virtual machines, storage, networking and application hosting, rented rather than owned.
What we do with Azure
We handle the licensing, the migration of what you run now, the build, and the ongoing management afterwards. Most of our Azure work starts with an existing server room that has reached the point where replacing the hardware is the next decision.
Azure is not automatically the right answer
Renting compute makes sense when demand moves around, when you need something running in another country, or when you would rather not own hardware again. It makes less sense for a steady, predictable workload, where it can quietly cost more every month than the server it replaced. We will advise which of the two your workload resembles, and if the answer is that your systems belong on infrastructure we manage instead, see Data Centre and Co-Location or VPS.
Backup still matters in the cloud
Moving a server to Azure does not back it up. Microsoft keeps the platform running; what runs on it is still yours to protect. See Offsite Backup.
What it costs
Azure is billed on what you consume, so the honest answer is that it depends on what you run and for how long. We will size it against your actual workload and give you a figure before anything moves.
Enquire about Azure
Tell us what you are running now, and we will advise whether migration is worthwhile.
