MikroTik routers, switches and wireless running RouterOS — supplied, configured and supported by Vianet in Malta.
What we use it for
MikroTik earns its place where the routing is the hard part: firewalling, VPN tunnels between sites, shaping bandwidth so one department cannot swamp the line, and policy that needs to be exact rather than approximate. RouterOS exposes far more control than most equipment in its price range, which is the reason to choose it and also the reason it is not a good thing to buy and configure yourself.
Where it sits alongside other kit
A common arrangement is MikroTik doing the routing and firewalling at the edge, with Ubiquiti handling wireless coverage across the building. Where a site needs enterprise switching and vendor support contracts, Cisco is usually the better answer.
Configured and documented, not just supplied
A MikroTik with a default configuration is worse than a simpler router, because it gives the impression of control it is not actually applying. We configure it around your network, document what was done and why, and support it under the same IT Support arrangement as the rest.
